Wind regulators

The first two weeks of June went to my summer tunings, and to the pollen, which has been brutal in our area the last two years and starting to affect me. After that, back to the winding parts: five wind regulators and a wind control valve, all needing releathering and general restoration.

A wind regulator is a box that holds the wind steady. The moving parts are leather and rubber cloth, and after decades they harden and leak. I make a template for the corners first, then the rubber cloth and the leather corners come off and are replaced. The bungs get new gaskets. The plate valves are stripped down and recovered in sheep skin leather over a new layer of 1/8" wool felt.

Also arriving this month: the walnut draw knob stems and engraved inserts from Syndyne, for the new console. Those go on to Organ Supply Industries for installation once they ask for them.
